Mama’s Lodge on Inhaca Island is about breaking that routine of horizons with buildings and houses with glass windows. It’s about being on an island that is safe and exciting and exploring all the senses that live on it. The lodge faces west; Sundowners happen perfectly symmetrically to the setting sun. The view of the bay with the twinkle of Maputo lights on the horizon at dusk is amazing!
Whether you’re swimming in the rim-flow pool with a caipirinha or barbecuing on the pit under the spacious Morula tree, you will always be amazed at the sheer beauty of your surroundings.
Even the sleeping experience invokes nature. The large mosquito nets protect you from the insects but the glassless windows allow the cool Mozambican air to rest your soul.
The kitchen is open plan and the central island serves as the come together point for cooking, drinking and socializing. Nothing can be nicer than preparing fresh crayfish from the bay whilst everyone chats and drinks around you.
The main house comprises of 3 ensuite rooms. All of them are unique, and combine sophistication with natural rustic minimalism.
There is a Tree house in the forest that is wild and romantic whilst still being luxurious. It has a beautiful en-suite toilet with a balcony that looks onto the canopy. One can wake up each morning and watch 10 different bird species go about their business in the Morula tree that supports the tree house.
Then there are 2 bedrooms that share a bathroom near the garages. The one bedroom has a fantastic 3 tiered bunk bed for kids. The other interleading bedroom is for teenagers or parents that choose to be close to there kids.
