Dunes de Dovela is Southern Mozambique’s only eco lodge surrounded by virgin coastal woodland. Situated about 400 kilometers north of Maputo and 80 kilometers south of Inhambane, we offer seven all-inclusive* tented luxury suites and bungalows overlooking the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. Our restaurant boasts a varied assortment of local fruits, vegetables and seafood in the most exquisite fusion of Mozambican and French culinary traditions.
The Dunes is at the center of our 100-hectares conservation area and is full of flora, fauna and wildlife native to Mozambique that has been preserved in this protected piece of coastline. Between the forest, dunes, lake and neighboring Dovela village, we have counted 262 unique bird species, 30 trees, vervet monkeys, mongoose, monitors, bush babies and more. In a malaria-free setting with no predators, you can explore the woodlands with our guided walks or on your own and from our bird hide in the heart of the forest.
Our stretch of Indian Ocean is home to sea turtles, manta rays, whale sharks and of course, the majestic humpback whales. From July to October we offer unobstructed views of humpback whales migration where you can watch dozens of whales breach and play while dining, sipping a glass of wine on your veranda deck or relaxing on the beach.
Beaches and “water activities”
The pristine beach – that the Eco lodge overlooks – hosts a rocky reef that forms a tidal pool and protects from the open sea. It is a perfect place to start snorkelling (gears provided by the Eco lodge).
From June to October, the humpback whales can be seen from every sites of the Eco lodge and all year long, bird watching is a must (binoculars available).
Fishing from the shore, kayaking on the lake are other options we propose.

Child PolicyThe children less than 3 years old stay free of charge in their parents’ bungalow but the parents must bring the food for the children (fridge available) or share their plates with them.
The tent platforms, the bathroom and the toilets are built on stilt therefore the environment presents hazards for small children. The parents must look after their children at all times and the Lodge declines any responsibility in case of accident.
The children less than 3 years old are not allowed in the tents.
Children less than 13 years old are not accepted from 21st December 2020 up (and included) to 2nd January 2021.
Minimum stayThere is no minimum stay except for the 2 following periods:
From 1st to 31st of August 2021: The minimum stays is 2 nights.
From 16th of December 2020 to the 16th of January 2021: the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Cancellation policy and reimbursement schedule:The reimbursement schedule is as follow:
• 29 to 15 days prior to arrival: 50 % of the invoice is reimbursed. A lump sum amount of 70
USD is to be deducted for a reimbursement in bank account outside Mozambique (Swift
code).
• Less than 15 days prior to arrival: no reimbursement.
All stay reserved and shortened or any services not consumed due to client decision and
force major is non refundable
